Styling Tips

Six essential bras every BH girl needs

  1. Lace Balcony or Lace Full Cup Bra: Lace or other tightly woven material without added stretch in the fabric gives the bust more support, thus allowing less freedom to move when you walk.  Have you ever seen a woman walking toward you in a clingy knit top and all you see is wiggly jiggly breasts heading your way?  Also, look for seams in the cup (preferably a three part seamed cup) as the seams give better shape and support to the bustline.

  2. Plunge Bra:  A plunge has a lower center gore so it doesn’t peek out under lower necklines, ideal for V-neck tops.  Freya and Panache both have great plunge styles.

  3. T-Shirt Bra: To wear with form fitting knits.  This can be either a “smoothing” bra or a molded bra. Panache’s Porcelain molded bra is the number one selling molded bra for the full bust, while Fantasie’s Smoothing line is excellent without molding.

  4. Sleep Top by Margeurite McGee or Sleep Bra; Keep the breasts comfortable so you sleep well.

  5. Shock Absorber or La Breeza Exercise Bra:  Even walking fast can have a pendulous effect on the full bust.

  6. Soft (no wire) full cup bra:  Whether its cleaning, relaxing or reading, on days when you plan to stay home you will be most comfortable in a soft fabrication that still gives support.

Top 3 “bra myths”, especially for the full bust

Myth 1My breasts are just too big to find any pretty and well fitting bras, swimwear or tops.  My bustline is so big they make me a “plus” size.

Fact:  Your “endowment” is a blessing and an asset that should be celebrated.  At Bratique Helene we ourselves are well endowed and are experts in fitting the full bust.  We will give you a free consultation on sizing and fitting of bras & swimwear and give you direct recommendations based on your needs.

Myth 2:  If I wear the right size bra, my bustline will look even bigger than it already does.

Fact:
Contrary to this myth, the right size bra gives your bustline a better shape and a more uplifted position on your body.  Wearing the right size bra makes the waist look smaller.

Myth 3:  The looser the fit, the more comfortable the bra.  To make the bra fit better I just tighten the straps.

Fact:

A form fitting bra is the most comfortable because it moves with and supports you through your active day instead of shifting on your body.  A shifting bra requires the wearer to constantly pull the back down, the straps up and adjust the center gore.  90% of the bra support comes from a snug back strap.

BH Girl Posture

A favorite motto of Helene was, “stand tall, walk proud”, and to this she would add, “hold your shoulders back and stick your bustline out”.  She was such a stickler for posture she would even correct a newly met male acquaintance on the issue.  But that was just a flirtatious scheme.

Posture can truly make or break one’s appearance.  Of course when wearing Bratique Helene shirts you walk taller because you feel better.

  • Most importantly lift the rib cage from the hips, as if a string is being pulled from the top of your head to the sky.
  • Secondly, roll the shoulders back so they are square and in alignment with the hips.  Please don’t round shoulders forward or backward.  Lets leave the “rounding” to other body parts.
  • Thirdly, check your gait.  Aim for a graceful and elegant step.
